Golly gosh, cor blimey guvner its 2011 already

If you were a Maya you’d be thinking “damn, only 720 days until the world ends” - I’m suspecting there aren’t too many Maya reading this so I’ll leave it that other than to highlight http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12105157

Big happenings at the extended ICE house today. Band meeting to speed date a potential manager amongst other such things as finalising our “2011 strategic plan” which builds on our 2010 successes - just look at our record: 2010 record album, 2011 continue recording album. Its brilliant, we should be running the country!

We’ve also decided to change our name. Not sure what to at the moment - I came away with one memory but the RRTB seems to be designing a logo for a completely different name - but I’m sure that once we’ve decided which it is we’ll be closing down this here stream of consciousness thingamajig and starting a brand new one.

So this is, I guess, farewell, adios, adieu. I will miss the seconds it takes me to brain dump a load of completely disarticulated thoughts whilst wondering if anyone, aside from me & the RRTB, ever reads them given that somehow we chose a forum on which nobody can comment or leave any other trace of their visit - which I guess could be symbolic of the influence one human life truly has within the entirety of creation until the advent of tinternet when all of a sudden any pathetic gushing with the right metadata suddenly has a global reach.

Well anyway, enough sentimental pilosophising, I’ll leave you with a question:

What is worse; to speak and not be heard or to type and never know if you’ve been read?

…we had 2 gigs left to play this year. Since then we’ve played 5 and now have 2 more gigs to play this year!

The 1st gig is tomorrow Fri 17th Dec at The Liberal Club in Stalybridge. For those not local to us, Google maps will show you where Stalybridge is, cos I haven’t got a clue and therefore, will be adventuring on my own little mystery tour tomorrow.

The 2nd (and final for 2010) gig is on Tue 21st Dec at moho Live in Manchester where we’ll be supporting Missing Andy, and no, I have no idea who Andy is and why he’s missing, but presumably he’ll not be getting any Christmas presents this year.

Tickets for Moho are still available via our website www.icecband.net just click on the live page and follow the link.

And in other news…

RRTB has been extremely busy recently being all DIY ish and so far nothing I’ve put us has fallen down, but that maybe due to the fact that most things I’ve done are already on the floor.

BG (bass geezer or closet Bee Gee fan, we’re still not sure which) has been attending an awful lot of Christmas parties and still has a few more to go, so if you come to one of the gigs and have a chat to him, you may be safer to take a taxi home, rather than risk a drink driving ban having breathed in some of his fumes!

TDM (no I’m not sure, but drum is in there somewhere) Is enjoying a rare and (she claims) well deserved break. Where has she gone, you may ask yourselves, Italy, France, Spain? Somewhere nice and warm to escape the ravages of winter? Yup, she’s gone to sunny Colchester. She claims it’s to visit a friend, but I suspect it’s more to do with the fact that X-Factor winner Matt comes from there, maybe she wants to sign him up.

And finally what of our wonderful Divaesque singer? Well, she’s been busy making sure that her vocals are in tip top condition for the gigs, making sure that what she wears for the gigs looks just right and making sure we all have a really nice Christmas.

So, in case I don’t write one of these things again before Christmas

Have a good one

Well lookee yonder, a follower…

…other than Little Timmy C for whom we are holding a special christmas appeal so please send in lotsa kidney soup - preferably in strong watertight containers.

Well we’ve two things to tell you. Firstly we seem to be on a national tour - the gogglebox keeps warning of ice all over the place (stop it Paul!) and secondly you can now catch a snippet of us doing crazy things from the forthcoming blockbuster Anvil II at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adZH_Xiez-k . Sure you’ll agree that the TDM did an amazing job of sticking together a load of unrelated footage and its good to see all the little ice fans bouncing around enjoying themselves at the beginning instead of being somewhere else - we had special door staff that night, trained not to let anyone out, and a special show including a water covered floor with a leccy cable lying on top!

Philosophical questions for the day: what is a blockbuster? where does the term come from? How long will it take for the black squizzers to eat all the grey ones thus saving the indigenous red squizzer from extinction?

Despite the anti-freeze my keyboard has well and truly frozen up - OMG uses special software which lets her talk to the computer instead of typing shit. Can you imagine that? Poor computer! Still the RRTB says it gives his poor ears a rest from time to time.

Remember folks, take care out there, there’s likely to be ice everywhere. The RRTB slipped and cut his hand, its dangerous maaaannn!

Yeah I know poor, very poor, so poor in fact that our debate as to changing the name of the band is really hotting up (unlike the studio which is freezing) and we think we may soon be able to announce to all you folks who have never heard of us that you’ll never hear from us again as we’ll be rising pheonix like from the ashes.

so there we are, then

Yup, the end of another year, Auld Langs Thingy etc.

Hmm? Whadya mean it’s not New Year yet? It must be, the Christmas trees have been up for ages and there’s Easter Eggs in the shops!

Oh I see, having checked, that it’s still only November, lucky, too, cos I’ve still got to start my Christmas shopping. Not that we, as a band will have much time for shopping, given the new timetable that’s been sent out, we seem to have a lot of studio time booked for over the winter, maybe this winter, the weather will be kind enough to let us actually get to the studio and record something. I’m sure people are starting to think that this album I keep talking about is just a figment of my imagination!

It’s not, though, I promise. It will get recorded and released, and I’m hopeful that it’ll be before the end of the world.

It’ll be interesting coming up with a title for it, seeing as we con’t even bring ourselves to call each other by our names, instead being referred to as TIQ, TDM, RRTB and BG. No, I have no idea either, other than RRTB being a Rock and Roll Teddy Bear, though I’m not really furry, and I’m assuming the BG, either Bass Geezer, or he’s just a massive fan of the Bee Gees. I must go and check his record collection, seeing as we have a closet Wombles fan in the band, you just never know.

So with that, I’ll wish you all a Happy Easter
